Need to know when visiting Mackers

There are a few places in our country where river and bush merge, the world slips away, everything comes alive - Mackers is one of those places. You will leave here relaxed and rejuvenated.

The cottages are 1km down from the main road and the tents are 2km down the road. - the road is half paved and half sand.    Please follow the signs "Mackers" in red.  We are located next to the Windmill Retreat opposite AvoPack on the R536 Hazyview,  - Sabie Road.  

Please be aware these are 2 separate establishments on our property. Mackers Bird Hide Cottages and Africamps at Mackers, Boutique Glamping.

Birdlife is abundant on the farm, with over 250 species to admire, bring along your binoculars.

There is a scenic "adventure" hike to enjoy - bring along your hiking shoes.  You will need to be fit to do this hike, as there is a lot of climbing and steep gradients.

As we are a self-catering establishment, limited complimentary items are supplied for you on arrival only:  Dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, hand soap, matches, candles, tea, coffee, creamer, sugar, cooking oil, salt and pepper sachets. 

Bath towels and linen are provided. 

We do not have a swimming pool at the cottages, but invite you to enjoy The Sabie River at the foot of the farm. by doing the cottage hiking trail. 

SWIMMING AND USE OF THE RIVER IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK, THE SABIE RIVER HAS DWELLERS

No swimming towels are provided for Cottage guests, should you decide to swim in the river.

No towels are to be removed from the cottages or tents There are also no hairdryers in the cottages, but we do have one on loan in the Honesty Shop.  We also have an iron and board available in the Honesty Shop.

The cottages have their own iron and board.

Swimming towels are provided for Africamps guests at the swimming pool.

Housekeeping:    Clean towels and linen are supplied on arrival and changed every 4th day.  Extra towels can be arranged at a fee of R30-00 per person, bath and hand towel. Should you require a linen change during your stay, we will do so at a fee of R80-00 per queen bed and R60-00 per single bed.  Should you wish to make use of our housekeeping service, a fee of R250-00 is charged to clean your unit per day, including a linen change or R150-00 per day, excluding a linen change. A complimentary cleaning service is offered on every 4th day of your stay.  What to expect from your Housekeeper:  Cleaning the deck, washing breakfast dishes, cleaning all surfaces, making of beds, cleaning the shower, toilet and basin.  Please do not remove the towels from the unit.

Terms and Conditions:

1.      Check in time is from 14h00 and checkout time is strictly 10h00.  The guests will be liable to pay R200-00 for each hour after 10h00 on the day of departure if the unit has not been vacated.

2.      DO NOT DRINK WATER FROM THE TAPS, however it’s OK to use for cooking, boiling a kettle or brushing your teeth.

3.      The units have been outfitted with certain items (cutlery, crockery, etc) please do not transfer items between units.  If you break something please add it to your shop list – do not replace the item yourself as we have uniformity in the units.

4.      NO SMOKING in the units, only outside please.

5.      Substance Use: (Persons under the influence of alcohol or other substances who are acting in a disorderly manner will be removed from the premises with immediate effect).  The use of illegal substances are strictly prohibited and any users will be escorted off the premises and referred to the relevant authorities.  The smoking of cannabis (marijuana) is strictly prohibited.

6.      The guest acknowledges liability for all services rendered until full settlement of bills

7.      Guests will be held responsible for any loss or damage to Mackers caused by themselves, their friends, or any person for whom they are responsible.  Mackers is not responsible for your personal belongings and valuables like money, jewellery or any other valuables left by guests in the tents.

8.      Regardless of charge instructions, I acknowledge that I am personally liable for the payment of all charges incurred by me and my party during my stay at Mackers.

9.      I intentionally waive and release, indemnify and hold harmless Mackers, their directors, officers, agents, employees and volunteers from and against any and all claims, actions, causes of actions, liabilities, suits, expenses which are related to, arise out of, or are in any way connected with my participation in staying at Mackers, but not limited to negligence of any kind or nature, whether foreseen or unforeseen, arising out of any damage, loss injury, paralysis or death to me or my property as a result of staying at Mackers.  I, as well as the members of my family and my friends, for whom I am responsible, that stay at Mackers, do so at my/our own risk and understand that I am in a bush environment, where wild animals of the bush may be present, as well as river dwellers in the Sabie River at the foot of the farm.  I also acknowledge that I, the members of my family and my friends for whom I am responsible, make use of the hike, pool and/or the river at my own risk.

NO PARTYING AND ABSOLUTELY NO MUSIC FROM SPEAKERS, CARS, CELLPHONES, ETC– ZERO TOLERANCE!
