Need to know when visiting Mackers
Please be aware of the requirements for our facilities
About our cottages:
When booking in a breakage/Loss deposit of R500 is required on arrival for group bookings. Once the unit has been checked, the deposit or difference will be refunded into your bank account within 3 working days (Please be advised we do have credit card facilities).
Minimum Stay - During peak season we will only book a minimum of a 2 night stay. Long weekends are a minimum of 3 nights
The cottages are 1km down from the main road and the tents are 2km down the road. - the road is half paved and half sand. Please follow the signs "Mackers" in red. We are located next to the Windmill Retreat opposite AvoPack on the R536 Hazyview, - Sabie Road.
Please be aware these are 2 seperate camps. Mackers and Africamps at Mackers
Please be advised that we do not have television sets in any of the units, we believe in escaping to the bush and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the surroundings.
Our accommodation is well appointed and we've tried our best to give you a "home away from home".
All units are supplied with tea, coffee and sugar for your first night. You will need to bring your own food and drink as well as braai charcoal and firelighters. The nearest shops are 17 kms away in Hazyview. We do at the Africamps have a small honesty shop with all the basics
Bath towels and linen are provided.
Swimming towels are provided for Africamps guests
No towels are to be removed from the cottages or tents There are also no hairdryers in the cottages.
For Africamps guests we have a loan hairdryer in the honesty shop. Use and return policy.
Our units are not serviced, but you can request this service at an additional charge of R150.00 per day or R250 per day for a full clean and linnen change. Cottages and tents are serviced every 4th day free of charge with a clean and tidy and fresh towels.
We believe in conserving water, thus towels will be exchanged on every 4th day for long term stays.
Burning of Mozzie Coils will not be permitted inside the cottages.
Our facilities are non-smoking, but you are welcome to smoke outside on the patio.
As we are in a bush environment, you will be required to fill in an indemnity form on arrival.
The water is sourced from the Sabie River and although it is filtered we recommend it not to be consumed. It is fine for making coffee and cooking. Please bring along your own drinking water.
Birdlife is abundant on the farm, with over 250 species to admire.
There are several scenic hikes to enjoy - bring along your hiking shoes.
We do not have a swimming pool at the cottages, but invite you to enjoy The Sabie River at the foot of the farm. by doing the cottage hiking trail.
Africamps guests have the use of there pool and the river hike.
The river is 1km down from the cottages and is accessible with all vehicles out of rainy season. This is also accessable in rainy season with concrete tracks put in for guests
No noise or music will be tolerated - due to the privacy of your fellow guests
